PIC Mission

To support independent IABC/Toronto communicators through professional development, networking and marketing.

PIC Goals

   1. To provide a forum for entrepreneurial communicators to share common issues, concerns and ideas of interest.
   2. To position IABC independent practitioners as “top of mind” among IABC corporate members looking for communications help.
   3. To generate referrals among PIC members.

History

Originally called the Alliance of Independent Practitioners (AIP), an IABC/Toronto group for solo professionals was formed in September 1998. A few members met regularly to discuss specific topics, refine our mandate and develop productive ways to create a presence in IABC. Now named Professional Independent Communicators (PIC), this group of independents has more than 100 members – most of whom have been IABC members for many years and have actively volunteered in different IABC/Toronto portfolios and activities.

IABC/Toronto’s VP, Association Management represents PIC on IABC/Toronto’s board.

Who can participate in PIC activities?

Any IABC/Toronto member who is an independent practitioner or who has an interest in becoming one can join — free of charge. This is an added value for your IABC membership. Guests are also welcome to attend events.
