NEW! Evening Panel Discussion: Deconstructing Election Campaigns
Tuesday, October 25, 2011, 6 to 8 p.m., Marriott Downtown Toronto Eaton Centre, 525 Bay Street, Toronto
In the past 12 months, the news has been dominated by political campaigns from all levels of government. From selecting a new mayor and new city council in Toronto to shifting powers at Parliament Hills, communications has played a major role in driving the political and news agenda. Campaign managers employed grass roots advocacy, traditional communications tactics and new media technologies to create a targeted approach for reaching voters and influencers.
Now, IABC/Toronto brings together a non-partisan panel of seasoned campaign managers and communicators for an evening panel discussion to share lessons learned from the election season and to give their opinions on what worked and what didn’t. The complete panel will be announced shortly.
In this session, attendees will learn:
- Strategies for successful political campaigns as well as do’s and don’ts
- Impact of social media and the 24hr news cycle on message development and distribution
- Creating a personality brand versus the party brand
- Lessons learned from the recent provincial election
Registration Fees*:

- $40: IABC Member early bird ($45.20 with HST) – ends October 3, 2011
- $30: IABC Student/Transitional member ($33.90 with HST)
- $50: IABC Regular member ($56.50 with HST)
- $60: Non-member ($67.80 with HST)

About Centennial College
Centennial was established in 1966 as Ontario’s first community college. The Centre for Creative Communications at Centennial, is one of the few post-secondary programs mandating its students to join a professional communications association such as IABC. Did you know that Centennial was also the set for TV's first generation of Degrassi High? Neat!
Student Presentations
