Calling Future IABC/Toronto Board Members for 2010/2011
IABC/Toronto is among the most recognized and respected chapters within the IABC global network. With close to 1,600 members, we are the largest IABC chapter in the world and we have a long-standing reputation for operating a professional and innovative chapter that constantly strives to enhance member value.
The success of the Toronto chapter depends on our volunteers. When you’re part of the IABC/Toronto Board, you’re part of a team that drives strategic initiatives for our members throughout the year. Consider joining us. It’s an excellent opportunity to develop leadership skills, build a network and have fun.
How the nomination process works
The new Board year begins July 1, 2010 and ends June 30, 2011, but the process for selecting next year’s Board starts now. Here’s what you need to do:
- Think about what you want to do. What are your professional and personal goals?
- Review the Board roles and responsibilities. How will volunteering on the Board help you meet your goals? How would you like to add value to our members?
- Ask questions. If you’d like to know more about serving on the Board, contact one of the current Board members who are listed here: http://toronto.iabc.com/about-iabc/chapter-board.
- Complete a nomination form and submit it by May 7, 2010, along with a copy of your resume. Nomination forms are now available and should be sent to Leslie Hetherington, APR, at toronto-pastpresident@iabc.com.
After May 7, a nomination committee reviews the nominations, candidates will be contacted and the Board slate will be posted for all IABC/Toronto members to review by May 21, 2010. The final step is the Annual General Meeting on June 23, 2010. If members approve the slate, the Board is approved.
