Impact of HST on cost of IABC/Toronto Offerings

As most of you know, effective July 1, 2010, the Province of Ontario is harmonizing its Provincial Sales Tax (PST) with the Federal Goods and Services Tax (GST). The Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) will be applied at a rate of 13% – consisting of a 5% federal component and an 8% provincial component. While IABC/Toronto has always collected GST on events and services, starting July 1 members will pay an additional 8% in taxes (the provincial component of HST).

Providing value to our members and striking a balance between reasonable prices and sound financial planning is important to the IABC/Toronto Board. Be assured of our continued commitment in offering you services that are affordable and accessible.

Congratulations to our first ever Mentor of the Year, Paulina Callaghan, ABC

At the volunteer recognition event on June 16, Paulina Callaghan, ABC, accepted the first-ever IABC/Toronto Mentor-of-the Year Award. Several mentors were nominated for this award by their mentees, but the nomination by mentee, Melissa Gibson, was the winning submission. Melissa noted it was Paulina’s ongoing professional support, enthusiasm and new friendship that created such a strong tie between the two individuals. The next Mentorship Program will begin in the Fall of this year.
