OysterShowOver beer and oysters, IABC/Toronto members experienced firsthand exactly why east coasters are known for their hospitality. On March 25, 2009, Rodney’s Oyster House on King Street West hosted members for an educational and tasty evening of all things oysters and beer. Guests were treated to an informative and entertaining Oyster 101 session with Rodney himself, who provided a warm welcome to all while decked out in plaid from head to toe. With Rodney’s son Eamon, a Canadian oyster shucking champion and number two in the world, busy freshly shucking oysters behind the bar, and his daughter Bronwen pouring the brew, the atmosphere was that of an intimate gathering of friends new and old. After enjoying a variety of hors d’oeuvres, members moved along amongst an amber glow from station to station to sample a selection of carefully paired oysters and beer.BeerTasting

The end of the evening saw guests exchanging business cards while bidding farewell, with others choosing to stay on and enjoy the hospitality over another order of oysters and round of drinks.
