Membership Dues Increase a Result of Canada’s Economic Prosperity
IABC International will be increasing dues for Canadian members by approximately $45/year, to the tier “A” level, effective January 1, 2011.
The regions of IABC are rated on a worldwide scale of tiers, using a global benchmark known as the Gross National Income (GNI) per capita, which assesses a person’s annual earnings in relation to the cost of goods across countries (i.e. how much it costs to buy milk in Tanzania versus in Toronto). This helps International assess in which tier of dues each region belongs. While Canada has belonged to tier “B” for many years, a recent reassessment of our country (and many others across the globe) has shown that our GNI per capita is equivalent to tier “A” countries (like the United States). Canada will be moved to tier “A” status effective January 1, 2011. As a wealthy country that is comparable in GNI to the U.S., this decision makes business sense for IABC. As well, Canada has not seen a dues increase since 2002.
We encourage you to take advantage of current membership rates and renew/join before December 31, 2010. Additionally, all Canadian members can save about $25 by paying in U.S. dollars, depending on the day’s exchange rate. To pay in U.S. funds, members must call or fax International to renew their memberships instead of using the online form.
Finally, members are encouraged to use the quarterly payment plan. Memberships renewed by December 31, 2010, will be billed in four payments at the current rates.
